    Default Wellington Z1748 and X3870

Air Britain - latest edition - mentions:
    Z1748 - 199 Sqn - Missing (Lorient) 14.2.43
    X3870 - 199 Sqn - Missing (Lorient) 14.2.43
Chorley only records X3870 in his Vol.4 on page 41.
Who knows what happened to Z1748 ?
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk,

I was consulting yout post with Mr. Chorley and here is his answer:

In the first edition of the Air-Britain X1000-X9999 Z1000-Z9999 register,
Z1748 is shown as missing from Lorient but, subsequently, this was
    corrected to read "SoC 12.05.47".

    Hello,
    BCL vol 4 (1943) has -
    13/14 Feb 1943
199 Sqn Wellington III X3870 EX-S Op: Lorient
T/o Blyton. Crashed in the target area. All were buried on 17th February in Guidel Communal Cemetery. F/L Cowie , whose DFM was gained during service with 10 Squadron and Gazetted on 9th May 1941 was the Squadrons Gunnery Leader.
    Crew were F/O. J.M.Bell
    Sgt. E.K. Jones
    Sgt. H.E. Woodruff
    F/O. R.J.Keyes
    Sgt. G. Easey
    F/L/A. Cowie DFM

As for Z1748 perhaps 1947 was when wreckage was found ?

    Hello Alex,

Although Bill Chorley does'nt mention it, his F/O R J Keyes, is actually, CAN J/9738 Robert Joseph KEYES RCAF. He does however, correct this error in BCL9ROH/273.
