    Hello 'H',

    No.269 Sqn. (Kaldadarnes, Iceland).
    Hudson III V9160/M

Took off 1853, failed to return.

    130053 P/O Thomas Richard PRESCOTT +
    132998 P/O Colin William HANCOCK + *
931908 Sgt Ronald James HARRIS +
1254444 Sgt Charles Peter SMITH +

All commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

    * Hancock, was the brother of TV actor Tony Hancock.

NB. Prescott had just been commissioned , but this information was not known to the squadron at the time he went missing and he was therefore , wearing the badges and rank of a Flt Sgt.

FRom the draft Vol 2 RAF Coastal Command Losses

Took off for a sweep but failed to return. The aircraft was known to have completed the sweep and was heard on w/t calling for bearings until 23:39 hrs when they were considered to have been 25 miles south of Reykjanes. All are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

Ross, thanks for the information im getting some really useful information regarding the men im researching. You mention Coastal Command losses i believe that T.R. Prescott was also the pilot of a plane that crash landed at a base in Iceland all the crew escaped injury would this get a mention in the book sorry i can't put a date but i have seen pictures of the plane. Are the volumes similar to the Fighter command and Bomber Command losses ?

Can anyone please confirm that when Prescotts plane went missing that a plane that went to look for any survivors also went missing.
