    I looking for info pertinent to Halifax of 58 squadron lost 24.03.1943. Any info about this accident is useful.

    Op: A/S Patrol, RAF St Eval, Took off 04:50 hrs

    Missing from anti-submarine patrol over Bay of Biscay. Shot down by Oblt Hermann Horstmann of 13/KG40 in position PLQ 14W/9526 08:40 hrs. All are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.

    Thanks for asking this question as I have trying to find out what happened to this aircraft as the navigator was a friend of my mother in law.

    Jim Smith, the navigator came from Hest Bank, near Lancaster and is on the Lancaster War Memorial. Local papers might give more details.

    I think you might find info relating to your enquiry in a fellow authors book entitled "Bloody Biscay" by Chris Goss, can't remeber the ISBN No of the top of my head.

    Thanks for your interest, John - so I can help you with "Bloody Biscay". I´m interesting for Sgt. William A. Vesely from this crew. Does anybody info pertinent to his destiny and RAF service?
