Default Pilot Officer Colin Cole Jerromes DFC

    Hi All

I've received a request through my website regarding the above.

Does anyone know of the circumstances of the award of his DFC?

    From Flight magazine

    P/O. C. C. JERROMES, R.A.F.V.R., No. 218 Sqn.
Since June. 1942, P/O. Jerromes has taken part in operational flying with much success. On one occasion in September, 1942. when on a sortie to Bremen, one engine in his aircraft failed before the Dutch coast was reached but with great determination this officer continued and completed his mission successfully. Later in December, 1942. in a low-level attack. P/O. Jerromes aircraft was hit several times by fire from an enemy aircraft and one starbpard engine was rendered useless. He took successful evasive action by diving from 4,000 to 600 feet, and after bombing the target returned to base on three engines.

If not, just google Colin Cole Jerromes and it will give you a hit for the old thread from this site
After all that, Amrit was quicker on the trigger.

    Thanks Alan and Amrit

However, I misread the query , which was from Plt Off Jerome's daughter, she was trying to contact Smudger218 who posted a thread in 2007.

Does anyone have a contact e-mail for this forumite?

Smudger218 is our very own Steve "Smudger" Smith on here, 3 Group "gen man" and 218 Sqn Assn historian. I'll PM Stephanie and Malcolm his details.
