    Default RCAF Medals awarded.......

Just another question. In an official honourable discharge document, dated 1946 a RCAF Officer is awarded the CVSM with Clasp and the Defence Medal Provisionally.......it also indicates he served in a Theatre of War. Why would this officer only be awarded the Defence Medal provisionally...the CVSM with clasp would denote he probably served in England??? Why would he not have been awarded the War Medal???? Does this makes sense to anyone???

    Cheerio,

    Chris

Yup. One can regularly see this on RCAF discharge paperwork. It is all to to do with dates, i.e. when the chap was discharged compared to when the criteria for the medals was finalised and given Royal assent.
