    Default Halifax NP960

    Gentlemen,

I have been sent a photo that the provider tells me is of the last met sortie by a Halifax of 519 Sqn in May 1946. I have reasons for thinking this might not be a met Halifax; fortunately the aircraft number, NP960, is clearly visible so that should resolve the matter. I wonder if anyone could provide any information about NP960?

    TIA
    Brian

Much obliged Dave, my suspicions were obviously unfounded.

    Thank you

    Brian:
I was informed by a former 519 Squadron MAO that the unit's final RECIPE sortie was flown from Leuchers by Wg Cdr MacDonald in Halifax Met Mk III NP960 C on May 30, 1946.
Do you happen to have his first name/initials?
    Regards:
    Robert

I'm afraid not Robert - I 'spoke' to Peter as well, so we have exactly the same information. I acquired the photo from another 519 Sqn MAO, 'Tich' Rutherford, who, by coincidence, lives not a million miles from me. I will see if he can help, although some of his recall is a little suspect - but so's mine.

Failing that I will have to visit the NA at some time in the relatively near future so I can add the squadron ORB to my list.

Would you like a copy of the photo - it's pretty good?

    Regards
    Brian
