Default Donald James Martin - RNZAF

I am looking for crew information for Donald James Martin - RNZAF, believed to have been with 15 Squadron. He was a POW and appears on the lists found on this site. I am also trying to determine on which op his crew was shot down.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Matt,

I do have his Service Number for you:- NZ413874.

In a list I have of POW’S I have his POW number as 332.

Also on an old computer of mine I have a reference to a Donald J (NZ413874) with his name in one of the Flight magazines between October – December 1943. Not other dates of his becoming a POW or Sqdn recorded by me.

No reference in my computer that a D.J.Martin ex POW has passed away. That is good news.

Not much help to you but perhaps our expert in NZ down in the deep south (Christchurch), Errol Martyn may be able to come up with some reliable news for you.

    Cheers,

    Hello Matt,

More details about this incident with Stirling EH890, can be read in the account by Sergeant Norman Jack Pawley.

Pawley was later shot down with Stirling BK805 from 15 Sqn on the Essen operation 25/26 July 1943.
