    Default Unaccounted airmen - 21-5-1942

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Killed on active service:
    Sgt (Pilot) Brian F. ADAMS - 1310953;
    LAC (WOp/Ag u/t) Leslie HUTT - 1216327;
    Sgt (Pilot) Norman C. KEENAN - 934645;
    Sgt (Pilot) James F. MARK - 1343537, and
    F/Sgt (Pilot) Ian TELFER - 1059804.

    B - Not found in Flight archives:
    AC1 Harry BARBER - 1034452 - age 34, and
    AC2 Frederick G. BYRNE - 1448992.

    C - Died on active service:
    Cpl Herbert RUSHTON - 1097621.

    D - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Botha I - W5081 - 8 AGS - dived into ground Dalcross (already as casualties on this a/c: Cpl-Chef [WOp/Ag u/t] E. AUBRY - FFAF 30756 and Cpl [WOp/Obs u/t] E. GOURNAC - FFAF 30764, both initially buried at Kiltearn).
    Oxford I - V4168 - 15 (P)AFU - dived into ground Reads Island, River Humber.
    Oxford II - N4798 - 11 FTS - crashed in forced landing Chirbury, Shropshire.
    Tutor I - K3427 - 1 FIS - crashed on take-off Sharmers Farm, Harbury Radford, Warwickshire.
    Oxford I - BG207 - 14 (P)AFU - flew into ground at night Hall Farm, Egmanton, Nottinghamshire (already as a casualty on this a/c: Sgt [Pilot] T.H. CAMPBELL - RCAF R/103921).

    Adams,26, regietered at Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
    Keenan,22, registered at Southwell, Nottinghamshire, the same area as Campbell,22 and the right area for Egmanton(There was also a Thomas H Campbell,22,registered at E Retford also in Lincolnshire.It may suggest that he survived the crash but died later and he was registered by both those at the crash site and where died)
    Mark,30, registered at Bridgend, Glamorgan
    Barber,34, registered at Spilsby, Lincolnshire
    Byrne,21, registered at Wenlock, Shropshire
    Hutt, Telfer,and Rushton didn't come up

    Sgt James Mark was in the No.53 OTU ORB for this date:

    May 21st 1942, “Sgt pilot James French Mark killed in flying accident whilst carrying out normal flying exercise.”

    AC2 F. G. Bryne; DOAS Flight mixed up the y and r. Aug 27th Magazine

    Gournac, Leslie Hutt, Ian Telfer all show up under Petty District, Inverness
    E Aubry is under Ardersier district of Inverness.

    There is a 36 yr old Herbert Rushton in Hillhead district, Lanark, Scotland for 1942.
    Hillhead was a radar station, a Chain Home station per Google searches.

    The ORB for 2 AGS confirms the casualties registered as Petty District as being killed instantly in the crash of W5081 and Aubry as being severely injured, he was transferred to Fort George Military Hospital where he died, and the town nearest to Fort George is Ardersier.

    Oxford I - BG207 pilot Sgt Keenan passenger Campbell RCAF also killed as noted.

    Henk , 1343537 Sgt Pilot James French Mark ,was Killed in Spitfire 11a P7781 of 53 OTU 21/5/42.
