    Default Dambuster Lancaster Information

    Hi All

I think I have the details of the special provisioning "dambuster" Lancaster worked out, except for the ventral gun position, and was hoping someone here may be able to help with details, or point me to a reference or source for this information.

Firstly, I understand a ventral gun position was included in the modifications for this aircraft, but was soon recognised as not being of much use. Was this position actually included on ALL the dambuster aircraft, or was it discontinued during their production run/modifications? I understand that the gun was eventually removed where fitted, but the postion obviously still remained.

Secondly, can anyone help me with details of this position - photos, drawings, etc. From a recently excavated "dambuster" Lancaster, it appears there was some sort of perspex arrangement around the gun mount (makes sense - gotta see where you are shooting!) Or can anyone point me to a good reference/source for this information please?

    Any help gratefully received,

    Thanks

    Peter Roberts

    Default 617. Sqn. Lanc details

I think one of the aircraft from the Chastise Op. still exists - or is it a conversion?

Peter, some of the people on the Lancaster Archive Forum may be able to help with your request, particularly some of the modelers.
