    Default George Arthur Marrows

Hi, I know that this thread is quite old now but I've only just found this website and the thread. Im keen to find out more about George Marrows (the pilot) and his operations prior to the faithful night of his plane coming down. I believe he flew other bombers before the Halifax. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate any information.

    Thanks

    Caz

    Daz,

In answer to your query (Post# 29), re a Casualty File at the NAA for AUS403883 John Patrick WHELAN RAAF, when he baled out of No.78 Sqn Halifax W7939, on 29/30-3-1943.

Generally speaking, RAAF personnel only had one A705 Casualty File created when they sustained an illness/injury. All subsequent entries were simply added to the existing file. In Whelan's case, he has 2 (two) A705 Casualty Files! The situation is complicated by the fact, that one of Whelan's A705's (for the 29/30-3-1943 bale-out), is filed under an incorrect surname, ie (WHEELAN), and an incorrect service number, ie (403888), making it doub'ly-difficult to locate.

If you go to RecordSearch and enter 403888, Whelan's first (undigitised) A705 should come up amongst a few other unrelated files.
