Default Details of loss of two Pilots ?

    Hello,

Seeking some details of the loss of two pilots please.

    First,
    17th December 1943, F/Lt. F.J. Thornton.
    Second,
30th March 1944, Lt. C.C.Geldard SAAF, with 601 Sqn RAF, from Carolina, Transvaal SA.

These men were I beleive both Spitfire pilots, but what is known of how they were lost ?

I have I think got a/c matches but need more.
JF819 was lost on the 17-12-1943 and JF879 was lost on the 30/03/1944.

note: "85 years of SAAF" does list Geldard with the loss of JF879.

    Thank you
    Alex

    Thornton died of typhoid

What's interesting about that document is the reprinting of an old rafcommands debate :)

Lt. B. Trotter of 1 Sqdn (SAAF) was lost in Spitfire Mk.VIII JF460.

While for the 30th March 1944
