Roland Greaney 1125411 301 Maintenance Unit Drigh Road
Devotion to a Calling by Group Captain Harley Boxall and Joe Bamford states that a plot of land was acquired for Christian armed forces burials. "The first two burials had already taken place. 1125411 Sgt Roland Greaney was the first RAF casualty to be interred in what was known as plot R1. He had died on 2nd July and his body was later reburied in the Delhi War Cemetery."
Taken with the circumstances to be determined note, points towards a non flying death I would suggest.
Sorry nothing more concrete, but will put a check of AIR 29/1073/1 on the list for Kew.... if normality ever returns.

Roland Greaney 1125411 , attached to 301 MU , was killed in a flying accident in Hurricane IIB BN 222 which crashed near Madli village in the Shebgarh district at 10:30 hours when the aircraft ran out of fuel

Thanks for that 'tip'.
AIR 29/1073 does not have anything about his death on the file. i am assuming he may have died in Jodhpur, as the jodhpur burials were re-interred to Delhi . Any deaths in Drigh Road area would have been in Karachi.
I beileve the death happened at Jodhpur because Boxall arrived in Jodhpur on 28 May 42. As the station was being set up at that time - very little is recorded in the ORB for june and july 42.
The No.2 EFTS ORB Jodhpur records it July in better detail and mentions Boxall again for June 42.. but no report of the crash/death.
Hi Jagan,
Lost in cloud, force landed out of fuel, u/c up, downwind, no engine, stalled, too high, hit mound of earth at Mandli village, Jodhpur.
Unit given as ARC Karachi Airport - 301 MU scored out on F1180.
