    Default Question for Finn Buch

    Hi Finn,
Do you know a place (an island) in Denmark named Seldjorn or Seldjorg ? This in relation to the loss of Mustang FB391 of 315 Sqn (Sgt Antoni Ciundziewicki - PAF 794407) 10-11-1944.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Default Norway

    Henk

I think you may be a bit off course here.

The patrol that Ciundziewicki took part in on 10/11/44 was off the coast of Norway (in the Bergen area). The 315 ORB records that he was seen to crash in the position 60 degrees 00N 05 degrees 00E which seems to be Selbjord on a modern map.

My contribution would be, that I know of no Danish place/island with a name like this. That does not mean it does not exist...

Thanks Steve & Mikkel for correcting me on the country. I've a note that FB391 may have been hit by either a flakship or A.A.-fire positioned at the Marstein light house. This may be correct as "Marstein Fyr" is located at the entrance of the Korsfjorden what is S of Bergen.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Default Question for Finn Buch

    Hello Henk,

I have a note saying the aircraft was hit by flak from Marstein lighthouse, crashed 1549 into the sea.

Source supposed to be the Norwegian Øistein Thomas Berge back in 2002.

Another note saying shot down by a flakship.

    Regards

    Finn Buch

Thanks Finn. File amended. Couldn't find Selbjord, however a Selbjørn at Selbjørnsfjorden.
    Regards,
    Henk.
