Default Sgt J E Chodzicki PAF, killed 2 jan 1942.

Can anyone give further information into the following airman buried at Fulford Cemetery, York please. The information comes from his CWGC style headstone and a civilian one behind it. I have no further info.

from civi stone "Sgt J E Chodzicki RAF (Poland), pilot, killed, 2nd January 1942, aged 21"

    from CWGC stone " Kpl J E Chodzicki. F.T.C. 2nd January 1942, age 21, Polish Forces"

Was he killed as a result of a flying incident and where ? Does anyone know his full name ?

The civi headstone also names an Emilia Helene Trollope, died 26th Nov 1943, aged 52, if this adds further information.

Any info, much appreciated as ever, Thanks Rich Allenby

    Hi Rich
Despite being buried in York his death is registered in the 1st Qtr of 1942 at Devizes in Wiltshire and he probably died somewhere nearby. The name is spelled Chodyicki( which could be an Anglicisation based on what was heard by the Registrar) and the 1st name is Jerzy. From a list of Foreign Nationals for whom CWGC have responsibility his Service No. is 782675 and the grave is Plot 12 Row P Grave 41
    Regards

Air Britain "K" series confirms Pewsey, Wiltshire. Stalled and dived into the ground.
