    Default 3 Squadron pilots 1942

    Hello all,

Looking for details of two 3 Squadron pilots:

Sergeant John SCHOLES 1014796 (d.6/6/42) listed in Flight magazine as KAOS

Warrant Officer Basile R. M. BURNHAM 967898 (d.8/12/42) listed in Flight magazine as missing, presumed KAOS

    Thanks,

    Jim,
I've SCHOLES on Hurricane IIB serial Z3169: Crashed in sea during air-to-air firing practice off Orfordness, Suffolk, possibly shot down by enemy aircraft (believed to be Oberfeldwebel Heese of 5./JG1).
For BURNHAM I've Hurricane IIC serial BE644: Spun off turn low flying on air test at night, Benington, Hertfordshire.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk and Jim

According to Air Britain serials I think these two should be the other way round: -
BE644 was lost 6 Jun and Z3169 was lost on 8 Dec 1942

Hello Henk and Malcolm, thanks for your help.

Just to clarify - if the serial numbers are the other way round, would the other details still be the same?

(ie did BE644, if piloted by Scholes on 6/6/42 ,crash in the sea or spin in to ground at Benington?)

Hope this doesn't sound too confusing!
