Unaccounted airmen - 4-9-1942
What were the places of death registration for:
A - Killed on active service:
Sgt (Pilot) Ernest S. STUDHOLME - 778600 (initials in Flight: E."H".).
B - Not found in Flight archives:
AC1 Derrick F. HOLDER - 1435387 - age 19 (grave has a special memorial).
C - Proposed aircraft losses:
Hurricane I - V6840 - 59 OTU - crashed in forced landing near Brunton.
Stranrear I - K7295 - 4 (C)OTU - crashed on landing Loch Ness, Inverness.
Tiger Moth I - L6943 - 21 EFTS - crashed on take-off Booker (already as a casuuakty on this a/c: Cpl P.E. BROWN - 2116272, The Glider Pilot Regt).
Hotspur II Glider - HH332 - 3 GTS - broke up in air near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
Hotspur II Glider - HH263 - 3 GTS - crashed on approach Stoke Orchard.
Hudson IV - AE627 - 6 (C)OTU - flew into ground at night 1 mile SW of Thornaby ("four" on board killed; already as casualties: F/Sgt [WOp/Ag] H.B. SHAVER - RCAF R/74041 - F/Sgt [WOp/Ag] J.A. MONTGOMERY - RCAF R/90455 [from USA] - F/Sgt [Ag] F.H. WRIGHT - RCAF R/87954).
Oxford I - BG657 - 15 (P)AFU - crashed on approach at night Kirmington.

Studholme,30, ( Ernest S on the register)registered at Cleveland,then N Yorkshire and the right area for Thornaby.It is also where Shaver is registered and so Studholme could be the "4th" casualty on Hudson AE627

Henk, regarding Hudson AE627, the following were on board..
Pilot - Sgt Ernest S Studholme RAFVR (778600), aged 30, of Sunderland. Buried Bishopwearmouth Cemetery, Sunderland. Married to Joyce Studholme.
Obs - F/Sgt Howard B Shaver RCAF (R/74041), aged 22, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Buried Thornaby on Tees Cemetery, Yorkshire.
W Op / AG - F/Sgt John A Montgomery RCAF (R/90455), aged 25, of Port Huron, Michigan, U.S.A. Buried Thornaby on Tees Cemetery, Yorkshire.
W Op / AG - Sgt Frank H Wright RCAF (R/87954), aged 28, of Sardis, British Columbia, Canada. Buried Thornaby on Tees Cemetery, Yorkshire.
It came down at Myton House Farm, Ingleby Barwick a mile or so from the airfield, regards Rich
