Sgt Frank S. SMITH - 920737 - age 29.
C - Proposed aircraft losses:
Spitfire I - X4685 - 52 OTU - crashed in forced landing Sports field adjacent to Aston Down.
Havoc I - AH489 - 530 Sqn - bellylanded Hunsdon.
Master II - AZ281 - 52 OTU - crashed (SOC 17-9-1942); NFD.

Sgt Freel, an American hit the No.52 Master while flyling the No.52 Spitfire, dropping a Mae West with "wheels dont work, wireless dont work written on it over the dispersal.

Thanks John for info on FREEL. To complete the picture: FREEL was initially buried at Souk Ahras but later his remains repatriated to the state Massachusetts.
