    Default 6 Sqn airmen

    Hi,

Would anyone know the serial number and age of the following four 6 Sqn airmen who were lost on operations in Palestine in August 1938. I've tried the usual sites but no luck so far.

19/08/38, Hardy K5920 Fly Off Robert Cassells Waddell DSO, DFC
    19/08/38, Hardy K5920 AC1 Richard Jennings
26/08/38, Hardy K4317 Plt Off Francis Thomas May
26/08/38, Hardy K4317 LAC Terence Bagge

    Thanks,

    Alex

According to The Times, Jennings was 513133. No number given for Waddell

    Alex,

JENNINGS also awarded DFM. Details of him and WADDELL on this old thread:
    http://www.rafcommands.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=printer_format&om=5003&forum=DCForu mID6

There is a record in a family tree on Ancestry for MAY:
Francis MAY son of Arthur James May & Ellen E May (nee Reidy)
Born 20 April 1917 Highland Gardens, Ilford, Essex
    Died August 1938 - Iraq

Also found one record around the correct period for a Terence BAGGE on the births register in Q1 1912 in West Glamorgan, but can not be certain it's your man.

    Hi Amrit, Martyn

    Thanks for you replies.

I searched the Times and came up with a short article dated 20th August about the loss of Waddel land Jennings but it didn't have any number for Jennings. I suppose it's how you do the search criteria.

I had a lot of data about 6 Sqn Hardys on a couple of my back up CDs. Unfortunatley when I put them in the drive, nothing. They wouldn't load. After going through all my back up CDs for the past few years I found just over half of them no longer work. So mush for CDs being the ultimate storage device.

Have you consulted the Palestine write up in RAF Operation 1919 to 1938 by Chaz Bowyer?

    Hi Paul,

Not yet. I'll see if I can order it through my local library.
