    Default Miles Martinet/target towing publication?

    Hi all

Whilst doing some research into WW2 target towing aircraft, I came across some photos and diagrams of towed targets and some internal photos and a cutaway of a Miles Martinet here, (about 2/3 of the way down the page):

    http://www.milfield.org.uk/fighter_leader_school_milfield.htm

Anyone happen to know what official publication these may have originally appeared in?

    Any help most gratefully received!

    Regards

    Simon

Simon, have you tried to ask the website author?:-)
From my point of view it looks different from British Pilot's Notes and evoke me more American than British manuals but that is all what I can say.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have asked - it was my first line of enquiry, but I haven't heard anything yet. I have however heard from someone else via another forum who HAS been in touch with him - it's a bit complicated! Hopefully I'll be getting get copies of the target banner and winch images.

The contact from the other forum has also told me the Martinet images come from AP 2281 A Vol 1 and this is the Air Publication for the Miles M25 Martinet. I've ordered a copy from a company in the US, so hopefully it may have some more useful info.

    Regards

Please note that there is a British AP (cannot recall the number offhand, but somewhere in the 1500 series I think) for "Towed Targets". If nobody else knows this, I will make a point of looking it up.

    David D,

I for one would be very interested in that AP reference.

    Kind regards,

    Tim,
That would be AP 1492A, Airborne towed targets, winches and ancillary equipment, the original version of which must have come out in about 1937.
