    Default 45 Squadron loss 3 Oct 1944

    Hello all,

    could any one advise a loss for 45 Squadron on 3rd October 1944. There is a F/Lt G H Proctor on the Singapore Memorial for this date for this squadron.

    45 Squadron airmen lost on 3/10/1994 and celebrated on Singapore memorial are:

    Shores, in Bloody Shambles Vol 3 states that a recon Mosquito of 45 Squadron was lost on that date. No names or serial given but HP936 (Missing on sweep to Meiktila 3.10.44) seems to fit the bill.

    From thr GRO RAF War Death Index
    Cpl Dennis B Dawson was attached to AHQ at the time of his death.
    W/O David A Wolfe has no unit listed.

    From p276 of 'Jeff' Jeffords supurb 45 Sqn history, 'The Flying Camels':

    Four more sorties were flown on October 2nd and on the 3rd three pairs were despatched on offensive recces, one just before dawn, one just after mid-day and one at dusk. HP936 failed to return from the second mission and Flt Lt Gordon Proctor and Sgt George Bargh were posted missing; since the aircraft had become separated there was no explanation for the loss.
