Hello,

Due to a question put to me by a friend.
I looked up the losses on the 2nd July 1942 with regard to Mosquito's.

105 Squadron
Lost DK294 and DK298.

the problem is this -

Stuart R. Scott in "Mosquito Thunder" has -
G/C. MacDonald and F/Lt. Skelton in DK294:F
and
W/C. A.R. Oakeshott DFC and F/O. Treherne in DK298:H.

W. R. Chorley in "Bomber Command Losses of the 2nd WW" vol 3 has -
W/C. A. R. Oakeshott DFC and F/O. Treherne DFM in DK294
and
G/C. MacDonald and F/Lt. Skelton in DK298.

Which is correct please ?

Further to this Scott has W/C. A. R. Oakeshott DFC and F/O. Treherne in DK298:H being shot down by Fw190 9 miles NNE of Husum, at Sónnebúll, Germany. With G/C. MacDonald and F/Lt. Skelton last seen flying slowly across the coast on the return leg off Pellworm Island.
Chorley has W/C. A. R. Oakeshott DFC and F/O. Treherne DFM shot down and crashed into the sea, and no details of the loss of G/C. MacDonald and F/Lt. Skelton except that they both became POW's. Where did their Mosquito come down ?

Thank you
Alex
