    Default 421028 - Unaccounted airmen - 28-10-1942

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Killed on active service:
    F/O (Pilot) William J. HAY - 47798, and
    Sgt (Pilot) Alan WILSON - 1450996.

    B - Died on active service:
    AC1 Cyril D. HOLMAN - 1427374.

    C - Not found in Flight archives:
    Sgt (Ag) Peter J. HEMBRY - 628912.

    D - Also looking for unit and possible cause of death of the following airmen, all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial:
    Sgt William G. DRYBURGH - 1086900 - Panel 82;
    F/Sgt Horace H. SAWYER - 1255736 - Panel 76;
    Sgt John R. STOCKER - 1189553 - Panel 94;
    Sgt Charles H. WILLMOT - 658032 - Panel 96, and
    Sgt Frederick WRIGHT - 1202556 - Panel 97.

    E - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Blenheim I - L6752 - 60 OTU - flew into ground Mains Farm, Ormiston, East Lothian (already as a casualty on this a/c: Sgt [Pilot] F.G. TERRY - RAAF 415059 [no further names in NAA documents]).
    Master I - T8775 - 55 OTU - crashed in forced landing 6 miles E of Lockerbie, Dumfries.
    Oxford I - X6876 - 3 (P)AFU - flew into ground at night near South Cerney.
    Master II - AZ803 - 1529 Flt - flew into ground at night Marlholm Farm, near Peterborough.

    All from 7(c)OTU, which lost a Wellington on this date, no serial but i expect others will know, failed to return from night excercise.

    Hay...Peterborough Cambridgeshire.
    Wilson...Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
    Holman, Border, Cumbria.
    Hembry, Romsey, Hampshire.

    Hay,25, registered at Peterborough, there is a village Marholm in the list ?AZ803
    Wilson,20, registered at Cirencester, Gloucestershire, the right area for S Cerney and Oxford X6876
    Holman,21, registered at Border, Cumberland
    Hembry,23, registered at Romsey and Stockbridge, Hampshire
    Warner records Terry as the solo pilot on L6752

    Hay confirmed as pilot of AZ803. Pupil S/L W Barnes injured.

    Can confirm that Sgt A Wilson was the pilot of Oxford X6876 and he was on his first solo on type when he lost control during an overshoot.

    Hello

    AC1 Cyril D. HOLMAN - 1427374 - the Mid Sussex Times of November 11th 1942 reported that he died 'in hospital in the North of England.'
