I should have known that Sgt REID was on Kittyhawk FL879 where I read now in Errol's Vols 1 and 2 (resp. pages 265 and 204/206) that S/Ldr John E.A. WILLIAMS - DFC - Mid - 40652 (RAF from NZ) was at the controls of FR270. Too premature with my thread on the Forum. A lesson learned !
    Regards,
    Henk.

I am sure that some on ths baord I have read that some older re-called to service men in the UK were given 'weird' service numbers.. Could it be the same case be in Australia?

Thanks Ross for info Sydney and Ienan (Iouan - initials "J.H.") WILLIAMS, both casualties 31.10.42 on Oxford BG665. I didn't come up with this serial in my msg # 1 as Air Britain in BA100-BZ999 (latest edition) has for BG665 lost 31.10.19"43" !
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hello

    AC1 Peter BAIRD - 1545735 and
AC1 Reginald G. LATHEY - 1193486 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that they both died at 0.15 p.m. (presumably 12.15 p.m.), in a field near the water works, Old Polmont, due to accidental electrocution.

    Regards

    Simon
