Fieseler Storch Fi-156 C-3. D-Day

I have a most unusual black and white photograph of a German Fieseler Storch Fi-156 C-3 on the ground. It is wearing British colours and D-Day white stripes. Does anyone know how this came to be used by the RAF? Thank you

Several Storchs were captured in North Africa, and used by the RAF as VIP transports throughout the war. One was given invasion stripes, and used to bring Churchill to Normandy in June 1944 on a day trip. Take a look at http://www.1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/8697.htm , which shows one at B3 in June 1944. Also, http://www.1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/9413.htm shows Winnie himself with a Storch, and gives a full list of RAF serials. I think most of these were officialy taken on strength by the RAF at the end of the war, and used by the UK occupation forces in Germany for some time.

the Allies captured over 50 of them and one was used by Montgomery.

AVM Harry Broadhurst used one as his personal aircraft and managed to land it on a hanger roof, thereby writing it off.
