    Default RAF A30 Baltimore FA200 52 Sqn

An RAF A30 Baltimore FA200 of 52 Squadron on reconnaissance went missing without trace north of the coastal town of CIVITAVECCIA, Italy on 5 August 1943.

Could anyone tell me the name and any particulars relating to the RAF member of the crew please?

Beware, Errol Martyn warns us in his ‘for Your Tomorrow’ Vol.2. that this crew member has his date of death with the CWGC as 1945.

    Cheers,

    Arthur,

As Col suggests, Peters is indeed your man. He is named along with the three NZers on a circumstantial report that appears on the service record of one or more of them.

PS: Don't know what happened to Col's post, it was there before I wrote the reply but gone immediately afterwards!

    Hi Arthur/Errol,

Decided to delete and re-check info from FlightGlobal after finding ambiguous info on Jorgensen ( ie Previously reported Missing, believed killed. Now presumed Killed in Action - P/O M O Jorgensen - Flight Aug 31, 1944 p.24). Needed to confirm all info, then re-post!

    Name: PETERS, CYRIL JOHN
    Initials: C J
    Nationality: United Kingdom
    Rank: Flight Sergeant
Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
    Unit Text: 52 Sqdn.
    Date of Death; 05/08/1945
    Service No: 1255615
    Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
    Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 7, Column 2.
    Memorial: MALTA MEMORIAL

Sgt W H J BOWSHER, F/O W J HOY and Flt Sgt W C JORGENSEN, all mentioned as MISSING in same Casualty List as; Flt Sgt C J PETERS (MISSING). Flight Oct 21, 1943 p.461.

    Better safe, than sorry.

    Apologies,

    Col.

Thanks Henk, it coud throw a lot of people out with 1945 and not 1943.

I am sure Errol has tried, but live in hope as I say.

Well done Henk, take a quarter of a point!

    I drive a hard bargain.

I am sure Errol joins my thanks.
