    Looking for the details related to the loss of the following airman.

    Still from David Gunby's "Sweeping the skies" (you should invest a few quids Peter...)

    Wellington X HE646 'D', raid on Scalea beaches, crashed in flames near San Giovanni, Calabria.
    Pilot Sgt K. BAMFORD and Sgt A.G. PAYNE (should be the navigator or the bomb aimer) both evaded capture. Sgt C.W.H. HEELS, Sgt P/O PEARSON and Sgt W.M. BLADEN were killed and are buried in Naples War Cemetery.
