    Default Basil Charles Amphlett Fox

I would appreciate any information on the above Officer who I believe was serving in the Equipment Branch on the outbreak of war and eventually rose to the rank of Wing Commander. May have been from the Lake District and served for some time in the Far East, possibly Singapore.

I have tried to use the London Gazette website but have found it extremely difficult. Any information at all would be most gratefully received.

    Regards,

    Kevin Mears

    Hi Kevin,

I don't know why, but I seem to have no trouble with the LG, although I know others do.

I searched the unique name Amphlett and it served up his service no. - from there it was clear sailing.

That's fantastic and I'm very grateful to you both. Would anyone have any idea of where and in what capacity he may have served? It's a complicated story but it has been mentioned that post war he may have served as a 'Government Advisor to the RAF' or, indeed, vice versa.

Any further information would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Kevin Mears
