SYKO-message encryption

Hi All,
I’ve been transcribing my late fathers logbook and there is an entry that reads’ Rec tuning & SYKO’ and ‘Tuning by calib-SYKO’

The only reference to SYKO I can find is ‘raf message encryption equipment’, does anyone have more information? Was it a piece of equipment or a manual encryption method.

Back to the transcribing…up to July 1944 now.

As far as i can make out, it was a manual encryption device consisting of 30 self reciprocal alphabets printed on cards. I've emailed you a picture of one. You can get several hits on Google if you type S.Y.K.O encryption into the serch engine.
