    Default Test Unit at Tangmere?

I am trying to identify a test or development unit that might have been based at Tangmere during 1944? I have identified the Fighter Interception Unit (FIU) was there in 1940 which seems unlikely given the airfields location on the BoB frontline. I believe they moved out quite quickly.

    Thanks

    Hi Steve
Take a look on rafweb.org under Stations/Tangmere where Malcolm has listed the many units that used the station. 1944 seems mostly to have been taken up by Sqns and Servicing echelons from 2nd TAF. From early Sept 1944 - Oct 1944 it seems to have been home to the Central Fighter Establishment(not a very long period) but nothing else until Jan '45 when it hosted the Day Fighter Leaders School until Oct '45

My pilot who switched from Wellington's to Spits spent some time at No. 2 Tactical Exercise Unit based at RAF Grangemouth in Dec 1943.
