The four POW's could still be alive if you wanted to track them down.
Also ive come across documents before for RAF personnel who have been repatriated back to Britain, you could find find these from the National Archives and they could give an insight to their exploits of being a POW.

Googling produces the following info:-
W/O E. Blanchard was interned in Camps L6/357. PoW No.551.
Sgt A.J. East in Camps 4B/L3, PoW No.222687.
Sgt E.H. Evans in Camp 4B, Pow No.222815 along with Sgt T.G. Stevens, PoW No.222781.
Perhaps there are some memoirs or details on the squadron website?
Thank you very much for your replies!
I will check the 51 website and get in contact with the National Archives.

Hi Steve,
.. may I ask you if you've been able to find out any more about the loss of 51 Squadron Halifax JN902 over the past couple of years? It's one of the very few losses during the 31.8.-1.9.43 Berlin raid losses that I have little or no info about.
Cheers, Theo
Dear Theo,
Halifax JN902 was shot down at Walkenried where those who died were initially buried.
As I found no matching flak report so far this Halifax must have fallen victim to a night-fighter.
Hope this helps!
cheers

Hi Steve,
Cheers & thanks for these details interesting indeed! Regretably, I have no matching NF, or Flak claim for this a/c.. Was JN902 shot down outward-bound, and do you have an (approximate) time of the crash?
Cheers, Theo
Theo,
the crash must have taken place shortly after the crash of EF119 at Wollershausen. That means that JN902 was shot down between 00.30 and 0.45 hrs. approx.. However, the date of death is shown as 1.9.43. And yes, JN902 was shot down outward-bound.
cheers

After reading the loss card of JN902 I believe that it was hit by a N/F. The ship exploded in mid-air. Leslie's chute failed to open while Turner and Liptrott were still in the a/c when it exploded.
This may have been Lent's 76th victory (0054 SW Berlin).
Cheers
Steve
