55 OTU Hurricane W9147 was stolen from RAF Usworth on 18.9.1941 by A.Preucil who was serving in the RAF but he was really a german agent. He flew or took Hurricane W9147 all the way to Belgium. The article on this story appeared in Aeroplane June 2003 by Roy Nesbit.
Did Hurricane W9147 take off from RAF Usworth or from the satellite airfield of 55 OTU which was RAF Ouston?I have the full ORB for No.55 OTU,RAF Usworth. What other documents confirm that the aircraft took off from Usworth or was it Ouston?

I believe this aircraft took off from Ouston. There is a Form 1180 for it.

At the time the RAF assumed it to have been lost at sea, it was not until later the true circumstances of the loss came to light.

I looked into this whilst tying up some loose ends in an effort to identify a mystery aircraft crash at Limestone Knowe near Carter Bar, Northumberland, now suspected to be a DH60 Moth.
