    Default F/Sgt H.W. Botterill - R/196196

    Allison: From Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
CWGC: Parents Los Angeles, California, USA.
For playing national anthem on ceremony must know whether he was Canadian and parents living in USA or American, serving in RCAF.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk
Nice to see you back,I trust you are in good health. I don't know if these amount to proof but RAF Bomber Command Losses Vol 5 - W R Chorley, records that he was an American Citizen and http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=collections/virtualmem/Detail&casualty=2961439, records that his Grave is USA Coll grave IV.D.11-13. The USA does not appear on CWGC. The a/c was Halifax MZ376,QB-K.
    Regards
    Dick

    Hello,

    I'm new to this forum.
If anyone has got more information regarding F/Sgt Harold W. Botterill I would be happy to hear.
He was killed when his aircraft (Halifax MZ376 of 424 RCAF Squadron) was shot down during the night of 1/2 November 1944.
The aircraft crashed not far from where I live, between the villages of Montfort and St. Joost, NL.

I am almost sure F/Sgt Botterill indeed was an American from Los Angeles.

    Best regards,
    Tom
