    Default 421204 - Unaccounted airmen - 4-12-1942

    What caused the death of:
Cpl Ernest M. BAKER - 1253197, whose name I couldn't find in the Flight archives (there is a 45 year old registered Birmingham, Warwickshire ?).

Any match between the following airmen and proposed aircraft losses:
F/O (Pilot) Harold A. SNARY - 129914, killed on active service and death registered Ledbury, Herefordshire, and
    S/Ldr Ian D. THOW - 42731 - age 28, death registered Gloucester Rural.

    Proposed aircraft losses:
Beaufighter II - V8150 - 143 Sqn - crashed on approach North Coates.
Tiger Moth II - T7100 - 21 EFTS - crashed on approach School Close, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Mustang I - AG453 - 41 OTU - flew into ground Wellington Heath, Ledbury, Hereforedshire (what may have been the 'candidate' voor F/O Snary).

Regards and thanks for your help.
    Henk.

Looking through the No.6 AOS ORB it mentions the death of S/L Thow, OC Morton Vallance Satellite.

In summary, his death was self inflicted.

    Hello

Cpl Ernest M. BAKER - 1253197 - the Birmingham Daily Post of December 10th 1942 reported the following:

A verdict of "Suicide while the balance of his mind was disturbed" was returned at a Birmingham inquest yesterday on Ernest Manley Baker (45), a corporal clerk in the R.A.F. Regiment, who shot himself with his service revolver on a balloon site near the city on Friday night. It was stated that Baker was a quiet and learned man and a portrait painter by profession. He was happy in the Service but had worried over the death of his wife.

    Regards

    Simon
