    Default "Press on" Fresson

I am interested in learning more about Noel H. Fresson. G/C Fresson was my father's C.O. at 97 Squadron and I am interested in learning more of his career and possibly finding pictures of him for inclusion on a 97 Squadron site.

    Thanks in advance. David.

    David,

From the 1975 RAF Retired List:

    FRESSON, N. H., DFC. Born 2/1/09. Commd 1/7/27. Gp Capt 1/7/47. Retd GD 15/11/56 rtg A Cdre.

Maton notes that his DFC is gazetted on p4673 on 22 Oct 43 (with citation).

The Oct 1940 AFL gives his service number as 24091.

Thanks Amrit and Errol. I too had come up with those sites. I was hoping for a more clear picture of him. I would imagine there is a picture of him somewhere considering he made the rank of Air Commodore.

I understand he got his nickname for "pressing on" to the target after losing two engines subsequently getting the D.F.C. for his actions.

Many thanks for the picture, much appreciated. Anthony Fresson provided us with the same picture for the 97 Squadron site, http://www.97squadron.co.uk/97%20Sqd%20COs.html

Any further information about your grandfather would be appreciated.

    Regards, David.
