Default Kenning Frank and George ?Both with 2 Squadron?

    Hi
I am trying to find out about Frank and George Kenning who I think must have been brothers and both with 2 Squadron at different times.

George is listed the the LG as ....
    (2ndLt. R.E.(T.A) DFC (44526)
7th Sept. 1940. temporary commissions as Pilot Officers on being employed with the Royal Air Force.
Pit. Offs. to be Fig. Offs. (war subs.) 1st Feb. 1941
Fig. Offs. to be Fit. Lts. 7th Sept. 1941.
18th June 1943-Distinguished Flying Cross. No. 2 Squadron.
he is wearing a DFC ribbon in a photo taken in Feb 43(Second to None by Hans Onderwater)

Frank looks very similar and was flying with 2 Squadron in 1945.
This could be Frank Kenning (tempy. Capt., R.E.M.E.) (51059).
To be Pit. Offs. (tempy.) on being employed with the R.A.F. 3rd Feb. 1943
In a photo in 1945 he does not have DFC ribbo.

That looks a promising lead. Will check it up.
Any thoughts on a title for the book? Am almost ready to sent it off now!

George Kenning was on 2Sqn in April 1942 when they converted to Mustangs. He seems to have been posted away from 2Sqn around end of July/early August 1943. I think he may have been posted to India? I am fairly sure that there was a feature on George Kenning in Flypast magazine perhaps 2/3 years ago. I don't have my copies any longer.

From the Kenning Group website, it may be that the two are not brothers.
Quote: He was succeeded by his sons, George as chairman and joint managing director together with his brother David unquote.
Frank may be a relation, but doesn't sound as if he was a brother (unless he had died by 1956).
don't know if that helps at all!!

    Default George and Frank Kenning

Frank was George Kenning's eldest brother. There were 4 Frank, John, George and David. It was Frank that went to Canada with the airforce. Frank died in 1956.
