    Default 421209 - Unaccounted airmen - 9-12-1942

    Looking for info (cause of death, place of death registration) of:

    Sgt (Nav) Norman T. VENTHAM - 1263877 - 214 Sqn (Chedburg, Suffolk), who died on active servie.

    LAC Henry WOODS - 1022775 - age 33, death registered Wirral, Cheshire.

    Proposed aircraft losses:
    Hector I - K8142 - GIS - crashed in forced landing Thame.
    Hudson I - N7404 - CGS - crashed on take-off Sutton Bridge.

    Martlet II - AM991 - RAF Donibristle - crashed Donibristle on take-off.

    "Sgt Ventham had been on a flight test that day with the crew. When they got back they were given a lift back from the a/c on the fire truck and Sgt Ventham fell off and was killed. The Squadron ORB notes that Sgt Ventham was killed on active duty on 09 December 1942."

    its just a transcription from the GRO RAF index, I'm not correcting it, many of the unit descriptions are odd or in error.

    21 PTC (Personnel Transit Centre) may be correct as this was formed 1-7-1942 at Kasfareet, Egypt.

    LAC Henry WOODS - 1022775 - the Liverpool Echo of December 10th 1942 carried the following announcement:

    WOODS - Dec. 9 in hospital, of 35, Boulton Avenue, West Kirby (late of Frodsham) HENRY WOODS (L.A.C., R.A.F.), beloved husband of Bessie Woods.
