    Default F/L Walter Ronald GARDINER (37807)

    Could anyone tell me what date F/L W.R. GARDINER joined 305 (Polish) Sqn. He was KIA 15 Sep 41. If anyone has access to the ORB does it mention what unit he was posted from.

    Best Regards

    Well, he's NOT on the BoB RoH which a bit surprising given his rank only a year later.
    Flight Archives has this:-
    1936 | 1613 | Flight Archive
    W. R. Gardiner, to No. 8 Flying Training School, Montrose, 21.5.36 and
    1937 | 1206 | Flight Archive
    ... Pilot Officers on the dates stated:óW. R. Gardiner (December 24, 1936);
    Can't find anything else so hopefully better informed Pals will be along shortly!!

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks you for the info.

    All I could find on the LG site for the war years was that he was promoted F/L(ws) on 10 Apr 41.

    Best Regards

    The March 1938 Air Force List has him joining 75 Bomber Squadron 15.3.1937

    Hi Andy

    ORB's for Polish squadrons can be found here;
    http://orb.polishaf.pl/unit/315sqn/1941-11

    Possibly they will have other material to supplement what is already posted.

    Kind regards
    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,

    Thanks for the link, but I've already checked the site and the only month for 305 Sqn in 1941 is May 41 and there is no mention of him for that month.

    Hi Andy

    After some digging about managed to locate a CAFL for Sep'39 which shows him at 115 Bomber Squadron. Hopefully somone can help you track him from there.

    Kind regards
    Pierre
