Biddulph was an interesting case, from the No.1472 Flight ORB.

December 16th 1942, Dishforth, “AC1 A.O. Biddulph, Fitt II (E), took off without authority in Tomahawk AH912 at 1000 hours & crashed whilst making a circuit of the airfield, killing himself and writing off the aircraft”

December 17th 1942, Dishforth, “F/Lt Gore attended the inquest at RAF Dishforth on the death of AC1 Biddulph.

    Hi Henk
Emma Thain,29, and Margaret Weight,25, are both registered at Gloucester Rural which covers the area outside the city of Gloucester. The area includes Innsworth which was a substantial RAF camp until very recently.

    Thanks Dick & Al.
I had the Tomahawk on file but didn't come up with it as a proposed loss, asking info for 2 WAAFs and a Fitter II(E) !
    Regards,
    Henk.

Henk, I concur with Alan regarding Biddulph, Tomahawk AH912 came down about half a mile south west of Dishforth airfield close to the A1 road. The site may also be in line for having the A1 motorway upgrade going over the top of it in the new year or so.

    regards Rich

Thanks Rich. Meanwhile found a note in my files that the Tomahawk was lost due to an unauthorized flight, however missed the "pilot's" name.

    Henk.
