Theo. This aircraft crashed at Langenberg, the pilot was able to bale out and he landed at Benteler, he was taken away to the local Wirtschaft. It came from a northerly direction burning in the air and then exploded in mid air with parts falling, mainly in the grounds of the Bardel furniture factory, one engine fell through the roof, one wing and engine fell near the railway station

    Hell Richard,

Wonderful, many thanks for your quick and very useful reply! Do your records also indicate the cause of loss of LW584, i.e. Flak or NF?

    Cheers, Theo

Hello Theo. The info came from one MREU report. Unfortunately I do not have, or could find the report submitted by the surviving pilot. Going to Ottawa in April. I will have another look then.

    Hi Richard
Do you know what time the incident happened?

(I have requested the crash site investigation report from the Canadian Archives, but they are quoting up to seven months to respond!)

    Thanks
    Robert

Hello Robert. All that is mentioned is "Late" in the evening. This came from the Bailey file. I will look at a different crew member, hope that there is more info.
