    Default William Green passes away

Just read that aviation writer William Green passed away last month. I imagine most of us have at least one of his authoritative works: Observer's Book of Aircraft, Famous Bombers/Fighters of the Second World War or a collection of earlier AIR International or AIR Enthusiast. One of the Big Guys has gone.

My first "serious" airplane book was a shiney new 1964 Observers Book, by William Green. I must have a few dozen other of his books by now. He truly set the standard in detailed technological and historical reporting, and clear, concise writing on complicated subjects. I will miss him.

Always a great loss to the community when we lose experts like that...
