Default 1 coastal OTU loss 26 June 1942

    Dear Gentlemen,

according to the magnificient book "Nachtjagd War Diaries" Hudson AM794 was shot down by a night-fighter E of de Kooy airfield.

But from australian service records I discovered that Hudson AM794 and its crew were lost 24th May 1942.

So what was the correct serial of the Hudson shot down E of de Kooy airfield? And who were the crew?

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    kind regards

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    A-B RAF serials states:

AM794 Hudson V 1 OTU Missing on navex, 25.5.42, believed stalled and dived into sea.

To be honest I am a little bit confused with dates...

    Gents,
Hudson AM794 lost on navex over Irish Sea (four crew, three of them RAAF; serial confirmed in Australian National Archives). I've Hodgkinson's crew on serial P5147.
    Regards,
    Henk.

Chaps, to make the picture complete:

P5147 Hudson I 1 OTU Missing on diversion raid for Bremen, 26.6.42.

So from my point of view this is the right candidate shot down by a night-fighter ...

You may be intersted to know that Sqn Ldr Hodgkinson remained in the RAF and retired in 1976 as ACM Sir Derek Hodgkinson.
