This is what the 5 (P)AFU ORB had to say:

February 5th 1943, “A flying accident occurred on 5.2.43 and resulted in the deaths of 1317038 Sgt Symons, T.J. (Instructor) and 1537024 Sgt Clithero, K. (pupil).”

And the following came from the No.41 OTU ORB:

February 5th 1943, “P/O Shingleton Smith killed in a flying accident.”

Thanks all for your excellent help. Still a long way to go for 1943; Aeromilitaria now came up with 'Crashes in UK WW2' up to May 15, 1943. From that date will have to follow their trend of publication every three months. That will give me more time to spend on the research of losses in Italy. Many casualties on SAAF personnel but meanwhile have Winston Brent's "85 Years of SAAF" on the book-shelf for help.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk,

    Sgt S J. DEAN - 1385334.

F1180 for No.26 OTU Wellington ?8970 at RAF Wing has him injured then noted as killed by airscrew.

Consistent with an injury at Wing then moved to Halton Hospital where he died later.

    Regards
