    Default Stanley Clive WELLS FAA

    Hi,

A strange one here if anyone can help.

Researching the index to the Walsall WW" RoH is a card sent in by the family asking for inclusion on the roll. The Committee decided not to allow the request.

He is Air Mechanic 1st Class FAA/FX 103790 Stanley Clive WELLS KiA 6 June 1944 in USA.

The Royal Navy have him listed as 'killed' however the CWGC do not appear to have him listed in their records.

    Any ideas ?

    Many thanks,

    Graeme

    Graeme,
He is listed on CWGC, but, when i entered him with his first initial "S" it did'nt show. Just entering Wells and 1944, Navy, brings him up. Buried Everett (Woodlawn) Cemetery.

    Alan and Amrit,

Many thanks for your input and the e-mail.

I've found him now on CWGC, I should have tried harder !!

Once again this Forum has helped me out when I've reached a dead end !!

    Can't thank you enough,

    Graeme

The problem finding him is there is a spurious letter E in his initials on the CWGC database:

    Name: WELLS, STANLEY CLIVE
    Initials: E S C
    Nationality: United Kingdom
    Rank: Air Mechanic 1st Class

    I'll pop them a line.

CWGC have corrected this error, the spurious E is gone!

The following link to the Boston Globe is a story from 2005 directly related to this thread. Just today I was cycling
through Needham, Mass. and viewed the memorial plaque dedicated to the airmen who crashed while on a training
mission in the U.S. I then googled to track down the story, as well as your RAF site. Hope the original poster
can make some use of this info. I registered on this site as user mlnbob22.
