    Default 17/8/1944 78 O.T.U Alamein Memorial ?

    I'm trying to find out if an aircraft (Wellington)of 78 OTU was lost on the 17/8/44. Trying to link some casualties.

    All these men listed as serving with 78 Squadron ?, all comemorated on the Alamein Memorial 17/8/1944 :-

    1684489 Sgt Robert Wray DAVIES RAFVR (Also listed in Chorleys Bomber Command ROH)
    162283 F/O Arthur Ernest GIDLEY RAFVR (another lists his unit as 78 OTU )
    1684644 Sgt Alan Arthur Robert METCALFE RAFVR
    157913 F/O Ernest Ian SCOTT RAFVR

    Also RCAF men no unit listed :-

    J/22468 F/O John Henry WILSON
    J/27643 F/O Dorrien Guy Corbin WILSON

    Any help much appreciated.

    ME914 was in my files however only with the names of the two Canadians WILSON;
    ........and the crash location may have been into sea 20 miles off Galillee, Palestine.
