    Alex and Alan,

I owe the two of you a big apology, I missed typed my entry from my notes and I put him down as 21 sqd and he should have been a 9 sqd member. Thanks for the inforrmation supplied but I will now make a further appointment for an eye test as it may help my cause as to avoid errors like that in the future. Perhaps a pair of binoculars might help :-).

    Cheers both.

    Steve.

The above person was my uncle. I don't know the nature of your enquiry, or of the kind of information you are after, but I know quite a bit about him.

I visited the Dumbach war cemetery where he was laid to rest and was intrigued to note that either by accident or design he had been placed in the same grave as an airman from another squadron bearing the same surname. (They were the only Rices there.) By an amazing coincidence, we discovered that we were acquainted with the father of the other Rice, who was a local tradesman.

I was told by relatives that Sqd 9 was not scheduled to fly any more that night, but that they volunteered to relieve another squadron, who had reported back to base in a state of utter exhaustion.

Hello all, I'm the nephew of Richard Davies, I am attempting to put together some background on him as most of our family has now passed away and I only have a few photographs of him in his uniform. I found some more details about him and his last flight in the new Bomber Command centre in Lincoln.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
