    Henk,
Mona was (and is!) a Relief Landing Ground for RAF Valley (both) on the Isle of Anglesey. It's one of the few RLGs with a 1500m paved runway!!! At RAF Valley the sky was often full of u/t Pilots, and when (not, if!) one of 'em scattered himself and/or his a/c across the Valley runway then all the rest were told to go to Mona!

Thanks Malcolm. I do believe the casualties commemorated on Panel 171 of the Runnymede Memorial may have been some of the passengers of the Harrow.

    Henk.

Default LAC Leslie BOOL - 1457683 - Runnymede Panel 171

    Hi

Just to add that Leslie Bool was my grandfather and my mother had always known that he went down on the date quoted in an aircraft on his way back on leave from his Air Sea Rescue duties. Hence I think your information is correct. He was in fact going back to London for his second (and final) interview for officer selection prior to leave. He is indeed commemorated at Runnymede and my mother and grandmother were invited to, and attended the opening of the Runnymede Memorial.

If anyone does have any further info on him or this event I would be most interested. Many thanks
