    Default Lancaster W4827 & Bill Chorley's Vol.4.

    Greetings.

    Someone sent me information on the late F/Lt. Cy Grant from a web site, from this article I found the Lancaster he was shot down in and then made POW was W4827, I then note from my own files it was from 103 Sqn lost 5/6 March 1943.

    My problem is this;

    I cannot locate the aircraft in Bill Chorley’s B.C.Losses. Vol 4, I have looked in at the corrections on the web, no luck. All other paperwork of mine shows this aircraft loss on that date.I would like the names of the rest of the crew.

    Can anyone enlighten me as why this is not in Chorley’s Vol. 4 pages 66-68?

    Thanks,

    Digger.

    Hi Digger,

    Perhaps because W4827 was lost on the night of 25/26 June, 1943?:

    Digger,
    If this is C.E.L. Grant, 103sqdn, according to Clutton-Brock, he was on board W4901 on the 25th June 43.

    Dave & Alan,

    So many thanks indeed and to think all the gen I had gave 6 March. These problems always seem to end up that a date is incorrect somewhere, I guessed Bill Chorley wouldn’t be wrong.thought it was my old age!

    Another fine thing about this site is the time taken to get a reply downunder, under the hour.

    Cheers,

    Digger.
