P2805 was, according the ORB, being piloted by P/O Boyer RCAF. He escaped without injury after accidentally retracting the u/c.

Correct Malcolm; MONK killed on ED840. I referred erroneously to N2876 where same MONK was injured in the accident.

    Default 430322 - Unaccounted airman - 22-3-1943

Looking for the cause of death of Sgt Oscar M. STOHR - 776165 (fm North Rhodesia), serving with 260 Squadron, killed 22-3-1943 and his name commemorated Column 272 of the Alamein Memorial. 260 Sqn at that time operating Kittyhawks. For this date (22-3-1943) only have the loss of a Mk.III, serial FR256, engine cut on air test and spun into ground at Nefatia Main, Libya. If on this aircraft than his grave must have been lost. It could be that he was flying Mk.I serial ET855 where Air Britain mentions this aircraft was lost "21"-3-1943 on an escort mission to Mareth.
Regards and thanks for your help.

    Hello

LAC Douglas HAVARD - 1231782 - registered Ashford, Kent.

AC2 Stanley W. JOSELAND - 1658785 - the Birmingham Daily Post of March 24th 1943 carried he following announcement:

JOSELAND - at a Royal Air Force Station Hospital, on 22nd inst., Stanley Walter Joseland.

His death was registered at Hereford.

LAC Thomas P.R. HULLEY - 1411108 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that he died at 5.00 p.m. at the Lawson Memorial Hospital, Golspie, due to a fractured pelvis and ruptured bladder, the result of a road accident.

Cpl Redvers Buller Francis LORD - 1350164 - no sign of him at all in any deaths register. I did find his birth, registered Dec 1920, Falmouth. There is a Francis Lord, aged 22, registered Tynemouth...?

Sgt Oscar M. STOHR - 776165 - the Andrews Newspaper Index on ancestry.co.uk has the following clipping:

STOHR - On March 22, 1943, at Nefatia Main, Tunisia, Oscar Michael Stohr, Sergt. pilot, R.A.F., the beloved son of Dr. F. O. and Mrs. Stohr, Victoria House, Rondesbosch, S. Africa, aged 21 years.

The preview of the 260 Sqn ORB on the NA website contains some details of his death while on an air test, which links him to FR256.

    Regards

    Simon
