    Default Abbreviations in ORB.

Can someone confirm the meaning of the following abbreviations from the ORB of 127 Sqn, March 1944.
    A.O.A. A.H.Q. E.M.
Air Officer ???, Air Headquarters, Eastern Mediterranean.
Where was Air Headquarters, Eastern Mediterranean in March 1944?
    TIA

    AOA - Air Officer Administration

    AHQ - Air Headquarters

    EM - Eastern Mediterranean

It used to be known as AHQ Egypt until 1943, so could it still have been based in Cairo?

    Andy,

From 'RAF Flying Training and Support Units since 1912' by Ray Sturtivant, et al:

    Air Headquarters Eastern Mediterranean
Formed 1.2.44 out of AHQ Air Defences Eastern Mediterranean and No.201 Group at CAIRO (Advanced HQ Alexandria) (controlled Nos.209, 210, 212 & 219 Groups); 14.2.44 Rear and Advanced AHQ merged at Alexandria - Rear AHQ left Cairo for Alexandria and Advanced AHQ moved into new Admin block at Laurens House Hotel; 1.3.45 absorbed No.203 Group; Disbanded into No.219 Group 28.2.46.
