    Default Mosquito Target 19.5.44

14 Mosquitoes were escorted by the Lympne Wing (33, 74 & 127 Sqn) on a bombing mission to France.
The escort aircraft took off from Lympne at 1515 landing back at 1645.
I have checked the ORB of 127 Sqn and the identity of the target is not clear
Can anyone confirm what was the target?
What squadron did the Mosquitoes come from?
    TIA
    Andy

    Hi Andy
I'm not sure if these are what you want but Middleton and Everitt ,Bomber Command War Diary, have 17 Mosquitos on Oboe Calibration Flights into France on this date. Most did not bomb but 4 attacked Mondeville and 2 attacked Orly. They do not mention escorts or Sqns nor do they specify time of day. Chris Shores and Chris Thomas 2nd TAF Vol 1,have 613 Sqn attacking navigational beam stations at Lanmeur in the morning and Sorotsville-en-Beaumont in the afternoon. If there was an escort it is not identified. Mosquito VI, LR370/Y of 613 Sqn ditched on return at 1945 with the loss of F/Lts R M Muir and F Mountain. None of this quite seems to fit your timings.
    Regards
    Dick
